Principle of hydraulic air filter

Release time:2026.01.16

1、 Working principle of hydraulic air filter:
1. Further filtering to remove tiny solid particles, and then outputting clean compressed air from the outlet;
2. Divide the water cup into upper and lower parts, with the lower part maintaining a static pressure zone to prevent high-speed rotating airflow from sucking up the water and oil at the bottom of the cup. The water and oil gathered at the bottom of the cup flow from the drain valve;
3. Release it. The air filter must be installed vertically with the water cup facing downwards;
4. The structure of the hydraulic air filter is shown in the figure on the right. The compressed air flowing in from the inlet is introduced into the guide plate;
5. Schematic diagram of hydraulic air filter: The guide plate has evenly distributed diagonal teeth similar to fan blades, forcing high-speed compressed air to rotate strongly along the tangent direction of the teeth. The liquid water, oil, and larger impurities mixed in the air are separated under strong centrifugal force and thrown into the water cup; On the inner wall, it flows to the bottom of the water cup. Remove liquid water, oil, and large impurities from the compressed air, and then pass it through the hydraulic filter element.
2、 Main indicators of hydraulic air filter
1. Filtration accuracy of hydraulic air filter: refers to the maximum diameter of impurities particles allowed to pass through. The key factor affecting filtration accuracy is the filter element, and different filter elements can be selected according to the needs of subsequent components to achieve the corresponding filtration accuracy.
2. Flow characteristics of hydraulic air filter: Refers to the relationship curve between the air flow through the filter and the pressure drop at both ends of the filter under a certain inlet pressure. In practical use, it is best to choose within the range of pressure loss less than 0.03MPa. In air filters, the main factors affecting flow characteristics are the body and filter element.
3. Water separation efficiency of hydraulic air filter: refers to the ratio of the separated moisture to the moisture contained in the air inlet Generally, it is required that the water separation efficiency of the air filter is not less than 80% The main factor affecting water separation efficiency is the guide plate.
The compressed air from the air source of the hydraulic air filter contains excessive water vapor and oil droplets, as well as solid impurities such as rust, sand particles, pipeline sealants, etc. These can damage the piston sealing ring, block the small exhaust holes on the components, shorten the service life of the components or cause them to fail The function of an air filter is to separate liquid water and liquid oil droplets from compressed air, and filter out dust and solid impurities in the air. However, it cannot remove gaseous water and oil, and hydraulic air filters are like this.
